Genesis (Bere'shiyth) 1

1 In the beginning, Yahuah (Yah) created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the surface of the deep. The Ruach (Spirit) of Yahuah (Yah) moved over the surface of the waters. 3 Yahuah (Yah) said, "Let there be light," and there was light. 4 Yahuah (Yah) saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. 5 Yahuah (Yah) called the light "Day," and he called the darkness "Night." Evening and morning passed, making the first day. 6 Yahuah (Yah) said, "Let there be an expanse in the middle of the waters, and let it separate the waters from each other." 7 So Yahuah (Yah) made the expanse and separated the waters under the expanse from the waters above it. And it was so. 8 Yahuah (Yah) called the expanse "Heaven." Evening and morning passed, making the second day. 9 Yahuah (Yah) said, "Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together into one place, and let dry land appear." And it was so. 10 Yahuah (Yah) called the dry land "Earth," and he called the collection of waters "Seas." Yahuah (Yah) saw that it was good. 11 Then Yahuah (Yah) said, "Let the earth produce grass, seed-bearing plants, and fruit trees on the earth that produce fruit with seed in it, according to their kinds." And it was so. 12 The earth produced grass, plants yielding seed according to their kinds, and trees yielding fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. Yahuah (Yah) saw that it was good. 13 Evening and morning passed, making the third day. 14 Yahuah (Yah) said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. Let them serve as signs to mark seasons, days, and years. 15 Let them be lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth." And it was so. 16 Yahuah (Yah) made two great lights: the larger light to rule the day and the smaller light to rule the night. He also made the stars. 17 Yahuah (Yah) placed them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, 18 to rule over the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. Yahuah (Yah) saw that it was good. 19 Evening and morning passed, making the fourth day. 20 Yahuah (Yah) said, "Let the waters swarm with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the open expanse of heaven." 21 So Yahuah (Yah) created great sea creatures and every living thing that moves. The waters brought these forth abundantly according to their kinds, along with every winged bird according to its kind. Yahuah (Yah) saw that it was good. 22 Yahuah (Yah) blessed them, saying, "Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the waters in the seas, and let the birds multiply on the earth."
