1 Yahuah (Yah) remembered Nuach (Noah), every living thing, and all the livestock that were with him in the ark. Yahuah (Yah) sent a wind over the earth, and the waters began to recede. 2 The underground springs and the floodgates of the sky were closed, and the rain from the heavens was held back. 3 The waters steadily receded from the earth. After one hundred and fifty days, the water level had dropped significantly. 4 On the seventeenth day of the seventh month, the ark came to rest on the mountains of <span class="ytc-term" data-term="Ararat" title="The mountain range where Nuach's ark came to rest after the flood. Located in modern-day eastern Turkey/Armenia. Pronounced: Ah-rah-raht.">Ararat. 5 The waters continued to decrease until the tenth month. On the first day of the tenth month, the tops of the mountains became visible. 6 After forty days, Nuach opened the window he'd made in the ark. 7 He sent out a raven, which flew back and forth until the waters had dried up from the earth. 8 Then he sent out a dove to see if the water had receded from the surface of the ground. 9 But the dove found no place to perch because water still covered the entire earth, so she returned to him at the ark. He reached out his hand, took her, and brought her back inside the ark with him. 10 He waited seven more days and sent the dove out from the ark again. 11 The dove returned to him in the evening, and look, in her beak was a freshly plucked olive leaf. So Nuach knew that the waters had receded from the earth. 12 He waited another seven days and sent the dove out again, but this time she didn't return to him anymore. 13 In the six hundred and first year, on the first day of the first month, the water had dried up from the earth. Nuach removed the covering of the ark and looked out; he saw that the surface of the ground was dry. 14 By the twenty-seventh day of the second month, the earth was completely dry. 15 Then Yahuah (Yah) spoke to Nuach, saying, 16 "Leave the ark—yourself, yourself wife, yourself sons, and yourself sons' wives. 17 "Bring out every living creature that's with yourself—the birds, the livestock, and every crawling thing that creeps on the earth—so they can breed abundantly, be fruitful, and multiply throughout the land."
