Genesis (Bere'shiyth) 49
1 Yaakov (Jacob) called to his sons and said, "Gather yourselves together so I can tell you what will happen to you in the days to come. 2 Assemble yourselves and listen, you sons of Yaakov; listen to Yisra'el (Israel) your father. 3 Reuben (Reuben), yourself are my firstborn, my might, and the first fruits of my strength; yourself have the highest dignity and the highest power. 4 But as unstable as water, yourself will not excel because yourself went up to yourself father's bed and defiled it—he climbed onto my couch! 5 Shim'on (Simeon) and Lewiy (Levi) are brothers; their weapons are tools of violence. 6 I will not enter their council and I will not join their assembly; for in their anger they killed men, and in their stubbornness they hamstrung oxen. 7 Cursed is their anger because it was fierce, and their wrath because it was cruel. I will divide them within Yaakov and scatter them throughout Yisra'el. 8 Yahudah (Judah), yourself brothers will praise yourself; yourself hand will be on the neck of yourself enemies. Yourself father's sons will bow down before yourself. 9 Yahudah is a young lion; from the prey, my son, yourself have gone up. He stoops down and crouches like a lion or a lioness—who dares to rouse him? 10 The scepter will not depart from Yahudah, nor the ruler's staff from between his feet, as long as people come to Shiloh (Shiloh); and the nations will obey him. 11 He ties his foal to the vine and his donkey’s colt to the choice vine; he washes his clothes in wine and his robes in the blood of grapes. 12 His eyes will be red with wine and his teeth white with milk. 13 Zebulun (Zebulun) will live by the seashore and become a harbor for ships; his border will reach to Zidon (Sidon). 16 Dan (Dan) will judge his people as one of the tribes of Yisra'el. 18 I wait for yourself salvation, Yahuah (Yah). 22 Yoseph (Joseph) is a fruitful vine, a fruitful vine by a spring; its branches climb over the wall. 24 But his bow remained steady and his arms were made strong by the hands of the Mighty One of Yaakov—from there, from the Shepherd, the Stone of Yisra'el. 25 This is by the El (God) of yourself father, who will help yourself, and by El Shaddai (God Almighty), who will bless yourself with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lies beneath, and blessings of the breasts and the womb.
