Genesis (Bere'shiyth) 4
1 Adam (Adam) had relations with his wife Chavah (Eve). She became pregnant and gave birth to Qayin (Cain). She said, "I've acquired a man from Yahuah (Yah)." 2 Later, she gave birth to his brother Hebel (Abel). Hebel was a shepherd who kept sheep, but Qayin was a farmer who worked the ground. 3 After some time, Qayin brought an offering of the fruit of the ground to Yahuah (Yah). 4 Hebel also brought an offering—the firstborn of his flock and their fat portions. Yahuah (Yah) looked with favor on Hebel and his offering, 5 but he didn't look with favor on Qayin and his offering. Qayin became very angry and his face fell in disappointment. 6 Yahuah (Yah) said to Qayin, "Why are yourself angry? Why is yourself face downcast? 7 If yourself do well, won't yourself be accepted? But if yourself don't do well, sin is crouching at the door. It desires to have yourself, but yourself must rule over it." 8 Qayin spoke with his brother Hebel. While they were in the field, Qayin attacked his brother Hebel and killed him. 9 Then Yahuah (Yah) asked Qayin, "Where is yourself brother Hebel?" He replied, "I don't know. Am I my brother's guardian?" 10 Yahuah (Yah) said, "What has yourself done? Yourself brother's blood is crying out to me from the ground. 11 Now yourself are cursed from the earth, which has opened its mouth to receive yourself brother's blood from yourself hand. 12 When yourself farm the ground, it will no longer yield its strength to yourself. Yourself will be a restless wanderer on the earth." 13 Qayin said to Yahuah (Yah), "My punishment is more than I can bear! 14 Look, yourself has driven me out today from the face of the land, and I'll be hidden from yourself presence. I'll be a restless wanderer on the earth, and anyone who finds me will kill me." 15 Yahuah (Yah) said to him, "Not so! Whoever kills Qayin will suffer seven times the vengeance." Then Yahuah placed a mark on Qayin so that no one who found him would kill him. 16 So Qayin left the presence of Yahuah (Yah) and lived in the land of Nod, east of Eden (Eden). 17 Qayin had relations with his wife, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Chanok (Enoch). Qayin was building a city and he named it Chanok after his son. 18 Iyrad (Irad) was born to Chanok. Iyrad was the father of Mechuya'el (Mehujael), Mechuya'el was the father of Methushael (Methusael), and Methushael was the father of Lemek (Lamech). 19 Lemek married two women: one was named Adah (Adah), and the other was Tsillah (Zillah).
