Genesis (Bere'shiyth) 33
1 Yaakov (Jacob) looked up and saw Esau (Esau) coming with four hundred men. He divided the children among Leah (Leah), Rachel (Rachel), and the two handmaids. 2 He put the handmaids and their children in front, Leah and her children behind them, and Rachel and Yoseph (Joseph) at the very back. 3 He went out ahead of them and bowed to the ground seven times as he approached his brother. 4 But Esau ran to meet him, embraced him, threw his arms around his neck, and kissed him; and they both wept. 5 When Esau looked up and saw the women and children, he asked, "Who are these with yourself?" Yaakov replied, "They’re the children whom Yahuah (Yah) has graciously given yourself servant." 6 Then the handmaids and their children came forward and bowed down. 7 Leah and her children also came forward and bowed down; finally, Yoseph and Rachel came forward and bowed down as well. 8 Esau asked, "What’s the meaning of this whole company I met?" Yaakov answered, "It’s to find favor in my master's sight." 9 But Esau said, "I have enough, my brother; keep what belongs to yourself for yourself." 10 Yaakov said, "No, please, if I’ve found favor in yourself sight, then accept this gift from me. For seeing yourself face is like seeing the face of Yahuah (Yah), now that yourself has welcomed me so kindly." 11 "Please take the gift I’ve brought to yourself, because Yahuah (Yah) has dealt graciously with me and I have everything I need." Because Yaakov urged him, Esau accepted it. 12 Then Esau said, "Let’s get moving and be on our way; I’ll travel alongside yourself." 13 But Yaakov said to him, "My master knows that the children are frail and that the nursing flocks and herds are a concern to me. If they're driven too hard for even one day, all the animals will die." 14 "Please, let my master go on ahead of his servant. I’ll travel along slowly, at a pace that's comfortable for the livestock and the children, until I reach my master in Seir (Seir)." 15 Esau said, "Then let me leave some of my people with yourself." But Yaakov asked, "Why do that? I only want to find favor in my master’s sight."
