Genesis (Bere'shiyth) 30
1 When Rachel (Rachel) saw that she wasn't bearing any children for Yaakov (Jacob), she became jealous of her sister. She said to Yaakov, "Give me children, or I'll die!" 2 Yaakov became angry with Rachel and said, "Am I in the place of Yahuah (Yah)? He's the one who has kept yourself from having children." 3 Then she said, "Look, here's my servant Bilhah (Bilhah). Sleep with her so she can give birth for me, and I can build a family through her." 4 So she gave him her servant Bilhah as a wife, and Yaakov slept with her. 5 Bilhah became pregnant and bore a son for Yaakov. 6 Rachel said, "Yahuah (Yah) has vindicated me; he's also heard my voice and given me a son." For this reason, she named him Dan (Dan). 7 Rachel's servant Bilhah became pregnant again and bore a second son for Yaakov. 8 Rachel said, "I've had a great struggle with my sister, and I've won!" So she named him Naphtali (Naphtali). 9 When Leah (Leah) saw that she'd stopped having children, she took her servant Zilpah (Zilpah) and gave her to Yaakov as a wife. 10 Leah's servant Zilpah bore a son for Yaakov. 11 Leah said, "How fortunate!" and she named him Gad (Gad). 12 Leah's servant Zilpah bore a second son for Yaakov. 13 Leah said, "I'm so happy! Women will call me blessed." So she named him Asher (Asher). 14 During the wheat harvest, Reuben (Reuben) went out and found mandrakes in the field and brought them to his mother Leah. Rachel said to Leah, "Please give me some of yourself son's mandrakes." 15 But Leah replied, "Wasn't it enough that yourself took my husband? Now do yourself want to take my son's mandrakes too?" Rachel answered, "Fine, he can sleep with yourself tonight in exchange for yourself son's mandrakes." 16 When Yaakov came home from the field that evening, Leah went out to meet him and said, "Yourself must sleep with me, because I've hired yourself with my son's mandrakes." So he slept with her that night. 17 Yahuah (Yah) listened to Leah; she became pregnant and bore a fifth son for Yaakov. 18 Leah said, "Yahuah (Yah) has given me my reward because I gave my servant to my husband." So she named him Issachar (Issachar).
