Genesis (Bere'shiyth) 27
1 When Yitschaq (Isaac) was old and his eyes were so dim that he couldn't see, he called his older son Esau (Esau) and said to him, "My son." Esau answered him, "Here I am." 2 Yitschaq said, "Look, I’m old now, and I don’t know when I will die." 3 "So please, take yourself weapons—yourself quiver and yourself bow—go out to the field, and hunt some wild game for me." 4 "Prepare the kind of delicious food I love and bring it to me to eat, so that I may give yourself my blessing before I die." 5 Rivqah (Rebekah) was listening when Yitschaq spoke to his son Esau. When Esau went out to the field to hunt and bring back game, 6 Rivqah said to her son Yaakov (Jacob), "Look, I heard yourself father say to yourself brother Esau," 7 "'Bring me some game and make me some delicious food to eat, so that I may bless yourself in the presence of Yahuah (Yah) before I die.'" 8 "Now, my son, listen to me and do exactly what I tell yourself." 9 "Go to the flock and bring me two choice young goats. I’ll prepare them as delicious food for yourself father, just the way he likes it." 10 "Then yourself will take it to yourself father to eat, so that he may bless yourself before he dies." 11 Yaakov said to his mother Rivqah, "Look, my brother Esau is a hairy man, and my skin is smooth." 12 "What if my father touches me? I’ll look like I’m tricking him, and I’ll bring a curse on myself instead of a blessing." 13 His mother Rivqah replied, "Let any curse fall on me, my son. Just listen to me; go and get them for me." 14 So he went and got them and brought them to his mother Rivqah, and she prepared delicious food, just the way his father Yitschaq loved it. 15 Then Rivqah took the best clothes of her older son Esau, which she had in the house, and put them on her younger son Yaakov. 16 She also put the goat skins on his hands and on the smooth part of his neck. 17 Then she handed her son Yaakov the delicious food and the bread she had prepared. 18 He went to his father Yitschaq and said, "My father." Yitschaq answered, "Here I am. Who are yourself, my son?" 19 Yaakov said to his father Yitschaq, "I’m Esau, yourself firstborn. I’ve done as yourself told me. Please sit up and eat some of my game, so that yourself may bless me." 20 Yitschaq asked his son Yaakov, "How did yourself find it so quickly, my son?" Yaakov answered, "Because Yahuah (Yah) yourself Yahuah (Yah) gave me success." 21 Then Yitschaq said to Yaakov, "Please come closer so I can touch yourself, my son, to see if yourself really are my son Esau or not." 22 Yaakov went close to his father Yitschaq, who touched him and said, "The voice is Yaakov’s voice, but the hands are Esau’s hands." 23 He didn’t recognize him because his hands were hairy like his brother Esau’s, so he blessed him. 24 Yitschaq asked, "Are yourself really my son Esau?" Yaakov replied, "I am." 25 Then Yitschaq said, "Bring it to me, and I’ll eat some of my son’s game so that I may bless yourself." Yaakov brought it to him and he ate; he also brought him wine and he drank. 26 Then his father Yitschaq said to him, "Come closer and kiss me, my son." 27 So he went close and kissed him. When Yitschaq smelled his clothes, he blessed him and said, "Look, the smell of my son is like the smell of a field that Yahuah (Yah) has blessed." 28 "May Yahuah (Yah) give yourself the dew of heaven and the richness of the earth—an abundance of grain and new wine." 29 "May peoples serve yourself and nations bow down to yourself. Be master over yourself brothers, and let yourself mother’s sons bow down to yourself. May those who curse yourself be cursed, and those who bless yourself be blessed." 30 As soon as Yitschaq finished blessing Yaakov, and just as Yaakov had left his father’s presence, his brother Esau came in from hunting. 31 Esau also prepared some delicious food and brought it to his father Yitschaq. He said, "Let my father sit up and eat some of his son's game, so that yourself may bless me." 32 His father Yitschaq asked him, "Who are yourself?" Esau answered, "I’m yourself son, yourself firstborn, Esau." 33 Yitschaq began to tremble violently and said, "Who was it then? Who hunted game and brought it to me? I ate it all before yourself came and I blessed him—and indeed, he will stay blessed!" 34 When Esau heard his father's words, he let out a loud and bitter cry and said to his father Yitschaq, "Bless me—me too, my father!" 35 But Yitschaq said, "Yourself brother Yaakov came deceitfully and took yourself blessing." 36 Esau said, "Isn’t he rightly named Yaakov? He has cheated me these two times: he took my birthright, and look, now he has taken my blessing!" Then he asked, "Haven’t yourself saved a blessing for me?" 37 Yitschaq answered Esau, "Look, I’ve made him yourself master and I’ve given him all his brothers as servants. I’ve provided him with grain and new wine. What is left that I can do for yourself, my son?" 38 Esau said to his father Yitschaq, "Do yourself have only one blessing, my father? Bless me too, my father!" Then Esau wept aloud. 39 His father Yitschaq answered him, "Look, yourself home will be the richness of the earth and the dew of heaven from above." 40 "Yourself will live by yourself sword and yourself will serve yourself brother Yaakov. But when yourself grow restless, yourself will break his yoke from off yourself neck."
