Genesis (Bere'shiyth) 22
1 After these things, Yahuah (Yah) tested Avraham (Abraham). He said to him, "Avraham!" Avraham replied, "Here I am." 2 Then He said, "Take yourself son now—yourself only son Yitschaq (Isaac), whom yourself love—and go to the land of Moriyah (Moriah). Offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains I'll tell yourself about." 3 Avraham got up early in the morning, saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him along with his son Yitschaq. He split the wood for the burnt offering and set out for the place Yahuah (Yah) had told him about. 4 On the third day, Avraham looked up and saw the place in the distance. 5 Avraham said to his young men, "Stay here with the donkey. The boy and I will go over there to worship, and then we'll come back to you." 6 Avraham took the wood for the burnt offering and laid it on his son Yitschaq. He carried the fire and the knife in his own hand, and the two of them walked on together. 7 Yitschaq spoke to his father Avraham and said, "My father?"
Avraham replied, "Here I am, my son."
Yitschaq said, "Look, here's the fire and the wood, but where's the lamb for a burnt offering?" 8 Avraham answered, "Yahuah (Yah) will provide the lamb for a burnt offering himself, my son." So the two of them continued on together. 9 When they reached the place Yahuah (Yah) had told him about, Avraham built an altar there and arranged the wood. He bound his son Yitschaq and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood. 10 Then Avraham reached out his hand and took the knife to kill his son. 11 But the malak (angel) of Yahuah (Yah) called to him from heaven, "Avraham, Avraham!" He answered, "Here I am." 12 The malak said, "Don't lay yourself hand on the boy or do anything to him. Now I know that yourself fear Yahuah (Yah), because yourself has not withheld yourself son, yourself only son, from me." 13 Avraham looked up and saw a ram behind him, caught in a thicket by its horns. Avraham went and took the ram and offered it as a burnt offering instead of his son. 14 Avraham named that place Yahuah (Yah) Yir'eh (Yahuah will see). As it's still said today, "In the mountain where Yahuah is seen." 15 The malak of Yahuah (Yah) called to Avraham from heaven a second time, 16 and said, "I swear by myself," says Yahuah (Yah), "because yourself has done this and has not withheld yourself son, yourself only son, 17 I'll certainly bless yourself and multiply yourself descendants like the stars in the sky and the sand on the seashore. Yourself descendants will possess the gates of their enemies. 18 All the nations of the earth will be blessed through yourself descendants, because yourself has obeyed my voice." 19 Then Avraham returned to his young men. They got up and went together to Be'er-Shaba (Beersheba), and Avraham lived there.
