Genesis (Bere'shiyth) 20
1 Avraham (Abraham) moved from there toward the Negev (South) region and lived between Qadesh (Kadesh) and Shur (Shur); he stayed for a while in Gerar (Gerar). 2 Avraham (Abraham) said of his wife Sarah (Sarah), "She’s my sister." So Abiymelek (Abimelech), the king of Gerar (Gerar), sent for Sarah (Sarah) and took her. 3 But Yahuah (Yah) came to Abiymelek (Abimelech) in a dream during the night and said to him, "Look, yourself’ll die because of the woman yourself’ve taken, for she’s a married woman." 4 Since Abiymelek (Abimelech) hadn't gone near her, he said, "Adonai (Master), will yourself kill even a righteous nation? 5 Didn't he tell me himself, 'She’s my sister'? And even she said, 'He’s my brother.' I’ve done this with a sincere heart and clean hands." 6 Yahuah (Yah) said to him in the dream, "Yes, I know yourself’ve done this with a sincere heart, and I also kept yourself from sinning against me. That’s why I didn't let yourself touch her. 7 So now, return the man's wife, because he’s a navi (prophet). He’ll pray for yourself, and yourself’ll live. But if yourself don't return her, know for certain that yourself’ll die—yourself and everyone who belongs to yourself." 8 Abiymelek (Abimelech) got up early the next morning, called all his servants, and told them everything; the men were terrified. 9 Then Abiymelek (Abimelech) called for Avraham (Abraham) and asked him, "What have yourself done to us? How have I sinned against yourself that yourself’ve brought such a heavy guilt on me and my kingdom? Yourself’ve done things to me that should never be done." 10 Abiymelek (Abimelech) asked Avraham (Abraham), "What were yourself thinking that caused yourself to do this?" 11 Avraham (Abraham) replied, "I did it because I thought, 'There’s certainly no fear of Yahuah (Yah) in this place, and they’ll kill me because of my wife.' 12 Besides, she really is my sister—the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother—and she became my wife. 13 When Yahuah (Yah) had me wander from my father’s house, I told her, 'This is yourself kindness which yourself’ll show to me: at every place where we come, say of me, "He’s my brother."'" 14 Then Abiymelek (Abimelech) took sheep, oxen, and male and female servants and gave them to Avraham (Abraham); he also returned his wife Sarah (Sarah) to him. 15 Abiymelek (Abimelech) said, "Look, my land is open to yourself; live wherever yourself like." 16 To Sarah (Sarah) he said, "Look, I’ve given yourself brother a thousand pieces of silver. It’s a sign of yourself innocence to everyone who is with yourself; yourself’re completely vindicated before all people."
