Genesis (Bere'shiyth) 2
1 The heavens, the earth, and everything in them were finished. 2 By the seventh day, Yahuah (Yah) finished the work he'd done, and he rested on the seventh day from all the work he'd completed. 3 Yahuah (Yah) blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on that day he rested from all the work of creating and performing he'd done. 4 This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created, on the day that Yahuah (Yah) made the earth and the heavens. 5 No shrub of the field was on the earth yet, and no plant of the field had sprouted yet, for Yahuah (Yah) hadn't caused it to rain on the earth, and there wasn't a man to work the ground. 6 Instead, a mist rose from the earth and watered the entire surface of the ground. 7 Then Yahuah (Yah) formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed the breath of life into his nostrils, and man became a living being. 8 Yahuah (Yah) planted a garden eastward in Eden (Eden), and he put the man he'd formed there. 9 Yahuah (Yah) made every tree that's pleasant to look at and good for food grow out of the ground. The tree of life was also in the middle of the garden, along with the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. 10 A river flowed out of Eden to water the garden, and from there it divided and became four headwaters. 11 The name of the first river is Piyshon (Pishon); it's the one that flows around the entire land of Chavilah (Havilah), where there's gold. 12 The gold of that land is high quality; aromatic resin and onyx stone are also there. 13 The name of the second river is Giychon (Gihon); it's the same one that flows around the entire land of Kush (Ethiopia). 14 The name of the third river is Chiddeqel (Tigris); it goes toward the east of Ashshur (Assyria). The fourth river is Perath (Euphrates). 15 Yahuah (Yah) took the man and put him into the Garden of Eden to cultivate and maintain it. 16 Yahuah (Yah) commanded the man, saying: "Yourself may freely eat from every tree in the garden."
